“Our aim as a band is to make truly amazing music. We are bringing elements of Funk, Jazz, Neo-Soul, Hip Hop and many others to craft an inimitable style that we hope will one day help redefine groove-based music for a new generation.”
The Digs is a group of talented young musicians who are quickly becoming known as one of Toronto’s most exciting up and coming bands. They have played collectively at countless festivals and venues across the country, including The Toronto Jazz Fest, Luminato, Ottawa Bluesfest and Montreal Jazz Fest as well as sharing the stage with artists such as: Ryan Dan, Nikki Yanofsky, Alejandra Ribera, Kae Sun, Saida Baba Talibah and many more; each member brings a wealth of experience and is a distinct attribute to the band. Members of the group have also worked on popular projects such as Canadian Idol, CBC’s Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Café and with producers Eddie Kramer & Darryl Neudorf.
Some of the standout moments for The Digs have been playing with Sarah Harmer, and sharing the stage with Lynrd Skynrd among others. Whether it’s their ongoing New Years Eve residency at Wakefield, Quebec’s Black Sheep Inn, or their weekly funk party at Toronto’s Drake Hotel, The Digs continue to draw packed houses of excited newcomers and dedicated fans.
What separates The Digs from many other groups is the obvious energy flowing between the members of the band; this comes from the experience of getting to make music they love with the people they are closest to.
“You don’t often get to “work” with your closest friends doing something you love. This band is exactly that. We’re friends and dedicated musicians, the two together come across in our music leaving the listener with the sense that we were born for this and leaving us with a renewed sense of direction and purpose each time we play together.”
